CBI court grants interim bail to RAW officer, others

JAMMU, July 28: Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI cases), B L Bhat today granted interim bail to Dr Dinesh Koul, Inspector RAW, Kulbir Raj alias Rinku and Sahdev Singh, who were caught red-handed by the CBI team while accepting Rs 20,000 from the complainant.
After hearing Advocates Tabraiz Ahmed Qazi and S C Bali for the petitioners whereas Senior PP SK Bhat for the CBI, Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI cases) observed, “the recovery of documents belonging to complainant can be effected by approaching his department and conducting search of his official record”, adding “to allay fears of prosecution the petitioners can be denied access to official records till further orders”.
“The Court is of the considered opinion that with petitioners’ enlargement on interim bail pending further consideration, a fair investigation is possible”, the Court further observed and granted interim bail to the accused persons on furnishing of surety and personal bonds in an amount of Rs 20,000 each with the conditions that the petitioners will report to CBI  during investigation as and when required and for seeking instructions they will report in CBI office.
Meanwhile, Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases) granted bail to SDO Telephone Mendhar Tulsi Ram, who was caught red-handed by the CBI/ACB team on July 23, 2012 while accepting bribe of Rs 1500 from the complainant.
