JAMMU, June 26: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has filed five charge-sheets in separate cases of fraud involving over Rs 35 lakh, where several accused allegedly duped individuals on the pretext of arranging MBBS seats, visas, machinery and job placements.
According to SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, charge-sheets have been submitted in courts for judicial determination in FIR Numbers 118/2023, 64/2023, 46/2019, 78/2022, and 79/2023.
In one of the major cases, Dr Mumtaz Hussain Shah Bukhari of Surankote (Poonch) alleged that two persons — Alok Kumar of Mandi, (Himachal Pradesh) and Maneer Ahmed Bhat of Doda — duped him of Rs 12 lakh on the promise of securing MBBS seats for his daughters in Batra Hospital, Jammu.
In another case, a charge-sheet was filed against Rakesh Sareen, proprietor of M/s Vijay Industries and resident of Uttam Nagar (Delhi) for allegedly cheating Rakesh Kumar of Marh (Jammu) of Rs 9.42 lakh on the pretext of providing business machinery.
Similarly, in a visa and employment fraud case, CB filed a charge-sheet against Shafiq Ahmed Lone of Baramulla (Kashmir), Mohd Inam-ul-Haq of New Delhi, and Firoz Khan of Noida (UP) for allegedly duping Satpal Sharma of RS Pura of Rs 6.5 lakh by providing fake job offer letters and forged visas for his son.
In another matter, Varinder Kumar of Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, was charge-sheeted following a complaint by Vijay Kumar of Rajouri, who alleged that the accused cheated him of a substantial amount on the pretext of arranging a work visa.
Further, Pawan Kumar and Naresh Kumar, both residents of Chandigarh, were charge-sheeted for allegedly defrauding two Jammu residents — Bachan Lal and Sudhir Kumar from Gho Manhasan — of Rs 6.41 lakh by falsely promising them jobs as supervisors in Pirus Security & Allied Services Private Limited.
The Crime Branch confirmed that all cases have been thoroughly investigated and challans produced in the respective courts.
