JAMMU, Aug 28: The Crime Branch (CB) has arrested a cashier of the Mechanical Division in Jammu for huge misappropriation of funds.
A Crime Branch official said the accused Slocus Nar, Junior Assistant of Old Rehari Jammu, then posted as a cashier in the office of XEN Mechanical Division Jammu, has been arrested on the complaint of XEN Mechanical Division Jammu for misusing his official position to misappropriate huge funds.
Quoting investigation, he said, the accused manipulated treasury challans, revenue registers, and official record to commit criminal breach of trust and cause heavy financial loss to the State exchequer.
According to him, the accused was earlier suspended after irregularities and forgery were detected by a departmental inquiry.
SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that the accused involved in case FIR number 79/2022 under sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 of the RPC read with section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
