JAMMU, Nov 7: The Crime Branch today arrested an absconder involved in a job scam case registered under FIR No. 110/2023 U/S 419, 420, 120-B IPC.
The accused, identified as Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, resident of Chadoora, Budgam, had been evading arrest for the past three months.
The arrest was made in connection with a complaint lodged by Javaid Iqbal of Poonch in 2023, alleging that the accused cheated him of Rs 4.20 lakh on the pretext of securing a government job as a Panchayat Accountant through the JKSSRB.
After thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Poonch on October 28, 2025.
During investigation, it surfaced that Fayaz Ahmed Bhat was already involved in two other cheating cases, FIR No. 22/2022 under Sections 420, 120-B IPC read with Section 5(2) PC Act (challaned before Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Rajouri on 02.11.2023) and FIR No. 33/2022 under Section 420 IPC, which is still under investigation.
A special team led by DySP (IO) Aakash Kohli, assisted by HC Roop Lal and HC Girdhari Lal, tracked the absconder for months and finally apprehended him from Jammu.
The accused was produced before the Court of Sub Judge, Poonch, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
