JAMMU, Feb 5: In an extraordinary display of judicial efficiency, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Jammu Bench has scripted a rare record by delivering 400 judgments in just four days, pronouncing 100 judgments daily from Monday to Thursday and disposing of more than 450 cases during the period.
The Division Bench comprising Judicial Member Rajinder Singh Dogra and Administrative Member Ram Mohan Johri achieved this remarkable feat with speed and precision, setting what legal observers describe as one of the rarest achievements in the country’s legal system.
A significant number of litigants received long-awaited relief as the Tribunal decided a wide range of service-related matters, including cases pertaining to regularization, compassionate appointments, seniority disputes, promotions and recovery issues. Each case was adjudicated independently, with separate and detailed judgments pronounced by the Bench.
Legal circles have hailed the development as a major step towards reducing pendency and restoring public confidence in the justice delivery system, particularly in service jurisprudence where many Government employees have been awaiting decisions for years.
Observers noted that the large-scale pronouncement of judgments not only ensured timely relief to affected employees but also underscored the Bench’s commitment to efficiency, accountability and speedy justice. The unprecedented pace of case disposal is expected to inspire other judicial forums to accelerate hearings and clear long-pending matters.
Many litigants who had been waiting for justice for over 15 to 20 years benefited from the swift disposal of cases. Legal experts pointed out that the Jammu Bench had earlier also created a benchmark by disposing of the highest number of cases among all regional benches of the CAT across the country.
