Case registered for assault on GDA officials

Srinagar, Feb 24 Police today registered a case against a group of persons who assaulted Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) officials after they objected to collecting illegal parking fees from the motorists.
An official said that a case was registered in Police Station Gulmarg against a few persons for assaulting GDA officials in Gulmarg.
The GDA officials were allegedly assaulted during an inspection in Gulmarg today. A complaint filed by the GDA at Police Station Gulmarg, reveals that the incident occurred on February 24 when a team of GDA officials visited the spot following reports that some persons were illegally collecting parking fees from commuters.
The complainant alleged that when the officials reached the spot to verify the information and take necessary action, they were confronted by a group of persons who allegedly assaulted and manhandled them.
The officials also accused the group of obstructing them from discharging their lawful duties and issuing threats during the altercation.
A Police official said that a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to assault or use of criminal force against a public servant, obstruction of duty and criminal intimidation.
