Car catches fire in Samba, inmates manage to escape

SAMBA, Jan 20: A private car on way from Kathua to Jammu suddenly caught fire on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Ghagwal Chowk near, here on Tuesday morning.
According to the information received, the driver, noticing smoke suddenly rising from the moving vehicle, showed presence of mind and stopped the car on the side of the road. The car quickly burst into flames. All the passengers in the car managed to escape and saved their lives. There were four people in the car, including two women, and fortunately, there were no casualties and no one was injured in the accident.
Upon receiving information about the fire, local people reached the spot and immediately informed the police and the Fire and Emergency Department. Fire fighters arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control, but by then the car was completely gutted. Traffic on the National Highway was also affected for some time due to the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and the police have taken cognizance of the matter and started further investigation.
