JAMMU, Apr 7: A retired Zonal Physical Education Officer, who himself is suffering from cancer, and struggling to survive against this dreaded disease for last 24 years, has donated a total amount of Rs 1,51,000 to support the Government in its fight against novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Identified as Rajesh Chander Vaid (resident of Resham Ghar Colony, Jammu), the cancer patient donated a sum of Rs one lakh in his name towards PM CARES Fund and contributed Rs 51000 in the name of his wife, Prem Lala (Kavita Vaid) in favour of J&K Relief Fund.
Talking to Excelsior, Rajesh said that he is fighting with cancer for last 24 years but is fortunate enough that he is still surviving. “I got all medical reimbursement from the Government time to time for my treatment that was mostly done till date at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai,” he said, adding, Government helped me lot and now it is my duty to help the Government in this difficult time, so I decided to donate this small amount for the welfare of the society.
He said everybody should come forward and donate generously for fight against COVID-19 as no occasion could be better than this to show our patriotism and love for our country.
