AIZAWL (Mizoram) Oct 30: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said here today that the by-election victory of BJP in Dampa will pave the way for NDA government in Mizoram.
Reaching out to voters in Mizoram’s Dampa constituency today, urging them to elect BJP candidate Shri Lalhmingthanga in the upcoming by-election. Addressing a public rally at Silsuri, a border town within the constituency, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that a BJP victory in Dampa would set the tone for the party’s larger aspirations in the state, paving the way for a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the 2028 Assembly elections.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is overseeing the election preparations in the state, highlighted that the people of Mizoram are increasingly disillusioned with the present Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government. He emphasized that a BJP win would strengthen the prospects of bringing greater central support and resources to the state.
Linking development with political stability, Dr. Jitendra Singh assured the crowd that the Central Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is committed to accelerating Mizoram’s growth. “The construction of the National Highway will be taken up after the election with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways,” he said, adding that the region’s poor healthcare infrastructure would also be addressed through new hospitals, better healthcare facilities, and improved ambulance services.
The Minister underscored that while several states across India have seen significant development in the past 11 years of the Modi government, Mizoram has not benefited to the same extent due to the absence of a “double-engine government.” He explained that when both the state and the Centre are governed by the same party, the implementation of welfare schemes and projects becomes more effective, ensuring last-mile delivery of benefits.
Dr. Jitendra Singh called upon the people of Dampa to vote for the BJP to strengthen the party’s presence in the state and enable Mizoram to gain the full advantage of central schemes and initiatives. “We have to carry forward the policies of the Modi government and ensure that the fruits of development reach every citizen,” he said.
The Dampa by-election holds political significance as it is seen as a key test of the BJP’s expanding footprint in the northeastern region. Dr. Jitendra Singh’s active campaigning reflects the party’s growing efforts to consolidate its presence in Mizoram, aligning its local outreach with the broader national vision of inclusive development and political stability.
