JAMMU, Feb 7: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association (BWA) delegation met Minister for Planning, Development, Labour and Employment Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and discussed the problems being faced by the Batwal community.
While speaking, the association members told Minister that they had submitted memorandums of genuine demands of Batwal Community thrice to the Government but till date nothing has been done to consider any of their demands.
They also apprised Minister that in 1994, the Central Planning Commission at the behest of the then Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao, undertook the Ethnographic Study of Batwal Community of J&K with an object to uplift it from a State of utter degradation it was living in, but despite lapse of 20 years, nothing has been done by the Government for the upliftment of the Batwal community people.
Minister assured the delegation that he will take up all their demands with the Government for consideration on priority.
The association members, who met the Minister, were Sat Pal Lakhotra, RL Kaith, Ramesh Kumar Kaith, Om Parkash Sargotra, Kamal Chand Motan, Gunni Ram Kaith, Punnu Ram Kaith, Gurdas Chand Sargotra, Baldev Chand Sandhu, Waryam Chand Motan, Pyare Lal Lakhotra, Bua Ditta Kaith, Rashpal Chand Bassa and Rashpal Chand Lakhotra.
