Bukhari visits several areas affected by incessant rains

BARAMULLA, Apr 3: The Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Relief and Rehabilitation Basharat Bukhari, who is on a two day visit to Baramulla to monitor the situation which has arisen due to incessant rains, today visited various affected areas of Pattan, Sopore and Sangrama,.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, officers of Flood Control & Irrigation, CA&PD, PHE, R&B and other Departments. He took a comprehensive review of the water logging and damages caused to roads, residential and non-residential structures, agriculture and horticulture land at Frasthar, Waripora, Dardpora, Haritar, Wanigam, Tilgam and other villages.
The Minister met a number of deputations during the visit. While interacting with the deputationists, who put forth their demands and grievances, he assured them that their genuine demands would be resolved on priority. He also reviewed the damage caused by flash-floods at Waripora.
Bukhari directed the concerned officers to be proactive and help people to come out of the situation. He directed the officers of Flood Control & Irrigation Department to restore damaged bunds. He also stressed upon the revenue agencies to assess the damages so that relief is provided to the affected families.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has sent various teams to areas where landslide has occurred, in order to monitor the situation and provide necessary relief to the affected families. Teams have also been deputed to Frasthar Baramulla and various villages of Boniyar. Moreover dewatering pumps have been pressed into service in water logged areas of the district.
