Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Bukhari expressed his sympathies with the family of Waseem Majeed Mir, a truck driver from Goripora Bumia in Sopore, who was killed in a firing incident at a checkpoint in Baramulla.
He criticized the security forces for their “trigger-happy” approach, stating that if the driver failed to stop, they should have shot at the tires instead of opening fire.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti criticized the National Conference (NC)-led Government for its silence on what she termed as grave human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here, Iltija questioned why the NC had remained silent in the wake of two major human rights violations in the last 24 hours, despite having the support of 50 MLAs.
The PDP leader raised concerns about the death of a truck driver in Baramulla, asking, “What was recovered from the truck driver who was killed? If the army fired at the tires to deflate them, how did they end up hitting him?
She also referenced the death of another individual, where authorities claimed he had committed suicide, adding, “In the Kathua case, they claimed it was suicide, but how credible is that?”
