JAMMU, Feb 11: Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JK-BADC), a registered organization working for the welfare of tribal communities and residents of border areas in J&K, has expressed serious dissatisfaction over the UT Budget 2026–27 presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The organization stated that the budget has ignored the genuine concerns and needs of people living in border belts, LoC areas and tribal regions. According to JK-BADC, the budget does not reflect the realities faced by border residents, who continue to live under constant insecurity, poor infrastructure, and limited access to basic facilities.
“The tribal communities were expecting concrete measures related to education, healthcare, employment and rehabilitation, but no such focused initiatives were announced,” said Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, chairman of BADC and former Vice Chancellor, while reacting to the budget presented by the J&K Government. He said the assurances given to tribals and border residents before elections have not been translated into policy decisions by the National Conference.
