POONCH, Feb 19: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana today described the Union Budget 2026-27 as a “historic roadmap” for achieving the goal of *Viksit Bharat by 2047*, stating that it reflects a long-term vision for inclusive growth and economic strength.
Addressing a press conference here at the BJP office, Khatana said the country has witnessed a major transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, moving from what he termed an era of weak governance and policy paralysis to becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy. He asserted that India’s growing global stature has resulted in stronger economic partnerships, with major world powers opening their markets to Indian industries and entrepreneurs.
The MP said the budget is not merely an annual financial statement but a comprehensive development framework that integrates short-term fiscal management, a five-year growth strategy and a long-term national vision up to 2047. According to him, the document focuses on infrastructure expansion, employment generation, promotion of MSMEs, youth empowerment, digital innovation, agricultural reforms and border area development.
Highlighting provisions for Jammu and Kashmir, Khatana said special attention has been given to border districts, including Poonch, through enhanced allocations for road connectivity, tourism promotion, power projects and skill development initiatives. He added that the budget marks a shift from entitlement-based policies to an empowerment-driven model aimed at ensuring transparency, inclusive development and improved investor confidence.
“Budget 2026 will further strengthen India’s global position and ensure that every region, including border areas like Poonch, becomes an active partner in the journey towards Viksit Bharat,” he said, calling for collective participation in nation-building.
Among those present on the occasion were BJP district president Gurdeep Singh Khalsa, ST Morcha State president Choudhary Abdul Ghani, and party leaders Rajesh Raina, Sunil Sharma, Mehtab Bukhari, Azhar Manhas, Sanjay Kesar, Ranjeet Sharma, Parwaz Chawan and Vikas Sharma.
