Bucchi Babu: J&K bowlers restrict Odisha to 314; Umran, spinners shine

JAMMU, Aug 26: Jammu and Kashmir bowlers put up a disciplined performance to restrict Odisha to 314 all out in 87.2 overs on Day 1 of their match in the ongoing Bucchi Babu Invitation Cricket Tournament, being hosted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) at SSN Ground, Chennai.
Odisha, after being put into bat, lost early wickets as Umran Malik, returning to competitive cricket, made an impressive comeback by cleaning up OM T Munde (8) and skipper Subhranshu Senapati (0). He ended with 2/35 in 10 overs.
Despite a strong recovery led by Rajesh Dhupar, who scored a fighting 104 off 196 balls (9 fours, 1 six), and Govind Poddar who added 74 off 121 balls, the Odisha side couldn’t capitalize further. Kartik Biswal chipped in with a useful 53, while Anil Parida (22) and Binaya Paikray (20) made brief contributions.
J&K’s spin duo, Vanshaj Sharma and Abid Mushtaq, were the standout performers, claiming 4 wickets each for 90 and 95 runs respectively. JKCA Member Administration Brig Anil Gupta and Member Cricket Operations Mithun Manhas praised the bowlers for their excellent effort in restricting Odisha to a manageable total.
