SAMBA, Mar 5: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today held a meeting here to discuss the preparations to celebrate the birth anniversary of its founder Kanshi Ram on March 15 across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was addressed by BSP J&K UT president Darshan Rana. Senior party leaders including state general secretary Raja Singh, coordinator Pritam Chand, district president Samba Devendra Kumar and Jagdish Verma were also present along with other party workers.
Addressing the meeting, Rana said that the birth anniversary of Kanshi Ram will be celebrated in every district and at the zonal level across Jammu and Kashmir.
He asked party workers to begin preparations for the programmes to be organised on March 15.
He said the occasion would also be used to reaffirm the party’s commitment to spreading Kanshi Ram’s ideology to every village and strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
Rana further said that apart from the anniversary events, the party will also frame a strategy for the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
He asked party leaders to prepare a concrete plan so that BSP workers can actively participate in the elections and work for the development of the region.
Taking a swipe at the present system, he said the rights of the poor and oppressed will remain insecure until the Bahujan Samaj gains political power.
He added that the time has come for the BSP to strengthen its presence and work towards coming to power to safeguard the interests of weaker sections.
Other party leaders also spoke on the occasion and expressed their views on strengthening the organisation and making the upcoming programmes successful.
