JAMMU, May 8: The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Rangers held a flag meeting today at Ballad forward post in Ramgarh sector of Samba district in which the BSF strongly protested firing by the Rangers to facilitate infiltration attempt by the militants yesterday.
Official sources said 59 BSF battalion’s Second-in-Command Sunil Kumar and Wing Commander of 25 PNR of Rangers, Jobad Ahmad met at Border Post No. 1216 at Ballad forward area of Ramgarh sector from 8.40 am to 9.55 am today.
The BSF jawans lodged strong protest over yesterday’s firing by the Rangers, which was aimed at facilitating infiltration attempt by the militants.
Sources said the cutting of grown up grass along the International Border (IB) also figured in the meeting. As usual, the Rangers refused to admit that they had resorted to the firing and said it (the firing) could be handiwork of the intruders.
It may be mentioned here that Intelligence and security agencies have reports that two groups of nine militants were trying to infiltrate through Samba sector. The BSF had yesterday morning foiled an intrusion bid in Ballad post of Ramgarh sector in Samba district.
