JAMMU, Aug 2: A BSF jawan was killed while thirty others were injured in different road accidents.
As per reports, a BSF jawan namely Sunil Kumar, son of Tara Chand of Darui village, Nud, district Samba was killed when a bus heading towards Jammu from Kathua hit him near Raya Morh. The BSF jawan was going to his sister house for getting tied ‘Rakhi’, when the accident took place.
His body was handed over to family members after autopsy while a case has been registered and investigation started.
Meanwhile, twenty-three persons were injured when the mini bus they were traveling in rolled down into a deep gorge near Tarpar Bridge under the jurisdiction of Ramnagar Police Station in district Udhampur.
The ill-fated mini bus bearing registration number JK14B 5427, was on its way to Chnunta from Udhampur.
The driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and lost the control over the vehicle, causing grievous injuries to all its occupants.
On getting information, police along with locals, started rescue operation and shifted the injured persons to district Hospital Udhampur in police and other vehicles.
Later two of them were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), for specialized treatment.
The injured were identified as Rattani devi, wife of Suram Singh of Kagnote, Ramnagar, Laxmi Devi, wife of Rajbir Singh of Battal Ballian, Udhampur, Suram Singh, son of Amarnath of Kathil, Ganju, Ramnagar, Saneha, wife of Sat Paul of Rang, Ramnagar, Nisha Devi, wife of Shabeel Singh of Kathil, Ganju, Ramnagar, Rattan Lal, son of Suram Singh of Kallar, Udhampur, Saro Devi, wife of Vishwa Nath of Kagote, Ramnagar, Sushma Devi, wife of Kuldeep Sharma of Badole, Udhampur, Kuldeep Sharma, son of Mulk Raj of Badole, Udhampur, Sunita Devi, wife of Kuldeep Sharma, Sansari devi, wife of Mangat Ram, Shakti Devi, wife of Prem Nath, Parkash Chand, son of Mangat Ram, Shano Devi, wife of Parkash Chand, Shano Devi, wife of Bodh Raj, Pawan Rekha, wife of Raj Kumar, Sheelo Devi, wife of Bodh Raj , Bodh Raj, son of Sant Ram of, Ankush, son of Abay Ram, Puspha Devi, wife of Puran Lal, Ganesh Sharma, son of Bishan Dutt, Vidya Devi, wife of Ambay Ram and Manjeet Kumar, son of Sita Ram, all from Bhugartyan, Ramnagar.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramnagar Police Station and hunt was on to nab the driver, who fled from the spot after committing the accident, leaving behind the vehicle.
In another incident, Five persons were injured when the Xylo car they were traveling in collided head on with a truck near Tamatar Morh under the jurisdiction of Kud Police Station, district Udhampur.
Police spokesman said that the five persons namely Kulbhushan, son of Girdhari Lal, Koushal, son of Janak Singh and Bodh Raj, son of Inderjeet Sharma, all resident of Baran, Kotbhalwal, Sunny Singh, son of Charan Dass of Shakti Nagar, Udhampur and Driver Parvinder Paul of Akhnoor, were injured when the Xylo car (JKO1L 8519) they were traveling in collided head on with a truck (JKO3 6474) near Tamatar morh, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kud.
After getting information, police party rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to district Hospital Udhampur, from where they were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialized treatment, spokesman said, adding, that the injured persons were responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Kud and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a couple was injured when the motorcycle (JK14C 2146) they were riding, was hit by a mini bus (JK14B 9492) near Chanunta area, under the jurisdiction of Ramnagar Police Station.
The injured Sham Lal, son of Kartar Chand and his wife Pushpa Devi, were shifted to district Hospital Udhampur, where their condition was stated to be stable, when last reports came in.
A case has been registered at concerned police station and investigation started.
