RAJOURI, June 20: A Border Security Force (BSF) Jawan from Darhal area of Rajouri district, died of heatstroke in Rajasthan, where he was posted.
Mohammad Ilyas Malik, a dedicated BSF Jawan and a resident of Thannamang village in Darhal, lost his life due to heatstroke while on duty in the extreme temperatures of Rajasthan. His sudden and untimely demise has plunged the entire region into mourning.
According to family members of the deceased, Ilyas collapsed while performing his duties amid the intense heatwave. Despite immediate medical intervention, he could not be revived.
The incident once again highlights the growing threat posed by rising temperatures across the country, particularly to those working outdoors and in physically demanding conditions.
As news of his passing spread, hundreds of mourners from surrounding areas gathered in Thannamang to pay their last respects. His funeral was held with full military honours at the ancestral graveyard. DIG BSF, Chander Prakash Rawat, visited Darhal to offer floral tribute and salute the fallen jawan, acknowledging his service and sacrifice.
