JAMMU, Nov 15: The Border Security Force (BSF) manning 192 kilometers long boundary along the International Border (IB) in Jammu sector has gone pro-active with installation of various new and sophisticated gadgetry, monitoring situation on daily basis and guiding the villagers to differentiate between security personnel and militants, who generally moves wearing combat dresses to dodge security forces.
“We have installed very hi-tech and latest gadgetry all along the International Border (IB) to thwart infiltration attempts by the militants. The surveillance, communication and intelligence systems have been upgraded to meet with any threat,” IG BSF, Jammu Frontiers, Rakesh Sharma told the Excelsior.
Asserting that the BSF has gone pro-active on the International Border, Sharma said they have installed very hi-tech equipments, which have been specially designed for the borders and were capable of spotting any kind of movement from a distance to alert its jawans and foil the intrusion bids by the militants.
“Though upgradation of system is continuous process, this time we have installed the gadgetry, which was designed to help the BSF make infiltration attempts by the militants, impossible,” he said, adding the entire latest modern system was in place and the BSF jawans were well versed to handle the new system.
Sharma said the data obtained from the equipments during the night is being analyzed every morning at a Special Control Room of the BSF to ensure that everything went alright and there was no unusual movement in any area of 192 kilometers long international boundary.
He added that regular monitoring of the data from newly installed latest equipments on the border from Kathua to Akhnoor ensure that even if something had gone undetected by the BSF jawans on duty during the night, it would be spotted in the Control Rooms in the morning and appropriate measures taken accordingly.
The Jammu BSF chief said that system installed on the border has been upgraded to such an extent that it will leave no scope for infiltration. However, even if the militants somehow managed to enter, they will be spotted and neutralized by the alert security personnel.
“The new modernized system had become necessity in view of the reports that the militants were getting desperate to infiltrate into the Indian territory from the International Border taking cover of adverse weather conditions,” he said, adding that the BSF was determined to thwart all kinds of nefarious designs of Pakistan and its sponsored militants to infiltrate into this side and carry out terror activities.
The BSF has also decided to involve the people living in the border areas to identify the militants if they managed to breach sophisticated system and infiltrate into the Indian side.
The BSF has given several tips to the villagers at different places which would help them easily differentiate between security personnel and Rangers.
“Dress fitting, shoes, style of walking, hair cut etc were some of the things, which could differentiate a militant from a security jawan even if the latter was wearing combat dress,” Sharma said, adding the BSF officers were making the border dwellers aware about this.
The IG BSF said the BSF has strengthened its communication and Intelligence system all along the border in Jammu sector, which would give boost to its efforts to ensure zero infiltration on the borders.
“We have further improved the communication and intelligence systems to great extent. We are also keeping liaison with sister agencies to keep track on the undesirable activities,” he added.
