Inspector, SI injured in assault

SAMBA, Mar 30: Two BSF personnel were injured during a raid in Rakh Barotian area of Samba late last night after they were attacked by the members of Gujar community.
As per reports acting on intelligence regarding the arrival of a large consignment of narcotics and weapons in the Rakh Barotian near AIIMS area which is a major drug hotspot in Samba district, a team from the Border Security Force (BSF) G-Branch rushed there to conduct a raid late last night.
The members of the local Gujjar community launched a murderous assault on the BSF team. In this attack, Inspector Imtiaz Ahmed and Sub-Inspector, Darminder Singh who were leading the team, sustained severe injuries and have been admitted to AIIMS Vijaypur for treatment. Among them, SI Darminder’s condition is critical, and he has been placed in the ICU.
Reports, said late on Sunday night, the G-Branch of the BSF’s Sunderbani Sector received intelligence indicating that a large consignment of narcotics and weapons have arrived in Rakh Barotian. There was also a suspicion that this consignment might have been dropped via a drone. Based on this information, a seven-member team from Sunderbani proceeded to the spot. These G-Branch officers were in civil dress, local police were not informed of the operation. As soon as the personnel—who had arrived in the Gujjar settlement in civilian attire—began their operation, the locals attacked them. The attackers chased the BSF personnel and beat them repeatedly with sticks and stones. The Inspector and the SI from the BSF G-Branch, Sunderbani sustained critical injuries in the attack. The other BSF personnel managed to rescue their injured colleagues from the attackers with great difficulty and immediately admitted them to the nearby AIIMS Vijaypur for medical attention.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, senior officials arrived at the scene to assess the situation following the attack on the BSF G-Branch team. Additionally, a formal complaint regarding this murderous attack was lodged by the BSF at the official level with the local Supwal Police outpost. Following the registration of this report—detailing the murderous assault on BSF personnel—at the concerned Supwal Police outpost, the Outpost In-charge, Rahul Dogra, arrived at the scene accompanied by his special team. To investigate the attack thoroughly, the police also summoned an FSL team to the site; having collected crucial evidence from the scene of the incident, they initiated operations to apprehend the attackers.
Reports suggest that the district police administration has detained several individuals suspected of carrying out the attack on BSF personnel.
With the case formally registered at the local Supwal Police Outpost, the district police are making every possible effort to bring their investigation to a logical conclusion.
