JAMMU, May 15: BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary today reviewed security situation along the International Border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts in the Jammu region and lauded the soldiers for their invaluable contribution.

Samba and RS Pura sectors remained active during Operation Sindoor in which two BSF soldiers, one of them a Sub Inspector, were martyred and nine others were injured. The BSF had killed seven terrorists trying to infiltrate from Samba sector and destroyed terror launch pad.
Chawdhary reached the BSF Headquarters at Paloura this morning and reviewed operational preparedness of the troops along the International Border in the Jammu region with senior officers of the force. The meeting lasted an hour.
Sources said the BSF chief reviewed situation on the International Border during and post Operation Sindoor. He called for strict surveillance all along the IB to prevent infiltration by the terrorists from Pakistan.
Infiltration attempts have been reported in past from the International Border in Jammu and Punjab. The BSF has been strengthening Anti-Infiltration Grid to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to breach the borders.
The BSF chief also reviewed situation along the borders during `Operation Sindoor’.
A BSF Sub inspector and a jawan were martyred in the Pakistan firing and shelling in RS Pura sector and nine jawans were injured. The BSF DG visited the hospital to inquire condition of the injured soldiers.
In the BSF retaliation, there were heavy casualties and damage on Pakistan side. Several Pakistan posts were also destroyed.
In Samba sector, the BSF thwarted infiltration attempt by the terrorists killing seven of them. With this, a major terror plot of the terrorists facilitated by the Pakistan army and Rangers was thwarted by the BSF.
A terror launch pad was also destroyed by the BSF opposite Samba sector.
Paying homage to the fallen heroes, DG BSF Chawdhary laid a wreath at the Amar Prahari Memorial at the BSF headquarters in Paloura in remembrance of late Sub Inspector Mohammad Imteyaz and late constable Deepak Chingakham.
Both men made the supreme sacrifice, facing intense enemy fire and shelling while defending their border outpost during the operation.
“A solemn salute to their ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation,” the BSF said on X.
Addressing the troops of BSF Jammu, the Director General reaffirmed the crucial role of the force in safeguarding the nation’s borders under the most challenging circumstances.
He commended their unwavering courage, bravery, steadfast dedication, and invaluable contributions to Operation Sindoor that was launched on May 7 in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The BSF chief returned to New Delhi in the afternoon.
