SAMBA, Jan 13: A motor cyclist was killed while his pillion rider was seriously injured when they were hit by a truck bearing registration No HK02W-1778 at Jammu -Pathankote National Highway near Main Chowk Vijaypur this afternoon.
The truck was on its way from Jammu to Kathua.
The motorcycle was bearing No JK02AF-2760. The deceased has been identified as Ravinder Kumar, 20, son of Baldev Raj of village Khokhare Chak Ramgarh while his injured sister was identified as Parveen Kumari, 37, wife of Madan Lal of Raya Suchani. The duo were rushed by Police to Emergency Hospital Vijaypur where doctors declared Ravinder as brought dead while his sister who was in critical condition was referred to GMC Jammu for treatment.
The Vijaypur Police has registered a case and seized the truck. The driver of the truck has also been arrested. The dead body was handed over to family members after legal formalities.
