SOLAN, Feb 8: Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, hosted Brother Jerome Ellens from February 5-7 for discussions on academic excellence, research, and student engagement.
Brother Jerome Ellens, a distinguished educator and mentor from Chennai, has a vast background in science, theology, English, and education, having studied at Loyola College and Annamalai University.
He has held leadership roles in several prestigious institutions, including St. Patrick’s School in Chennai and Mount St. Mary’s in New Delhi.
In 1998, he became the first Indian elected as Vicar General of the Patrician Brothers, and in 2004, he made history again as the first Indian Superior General, leading the congregation worldwide until 2016.
JUIT Pro-Chancellor Manoj Gaur invited Brother Jerome as a special guest to the university’s Executive Council.
During his visit, he interacted with students and faculty, sharing insights on education and leadership.
Vice Chancellor Prof R K Sharma welcomed him and provided an overview of JUIT’s academic initiatives.
Dean Prof Ashok Kumar Gupta and Registrar Brig R K Sharma also joined the discussions.
Brother Jerome engaged with students, discussing their academic aspirations and innovative projects, encouraging them to pursue their goals with determination.
He also conducted an interactive session with faculty on academic collaboration and faculty development under the concept of ‘SYNERGY.’
JUIT expressed gratitude for his visit, calling it insightful and beneficial for students and faculty. The university looks forward to future collaborations with him.
