KATHUA, May 28: The work on blacktopping of 11 kilo meters of Bani road will be started soon as the Border Road Organization (BRO) which is constructing the road has sanctioned Rs 4.5 crore for this purpose.
This was stated by MLA Bani and Basholi district president BJP, Jeevan Lal Lahal while addressing a meeting in remote area of Bhandar.
Lal said the funds were sanctioned by BRO after he took up the issue with Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh who is also representing Kathua -Doda Lok Sabha Constituency. Dr Jitendra Singh in turn took up the matter with DG BRO and the later sanctioned the amount for the blacktopping of the road.
Lal said that eight kms of road from Sarthali to Bani and three kms from Bani to Magyar will be blacktopped and work will be started soon so that these two patches of road will be ready before the three day long Bani mela to be held on June 25, 26 and 27.
The MLA said the blacktopping of the road is imperative as thousands of people are participating in the annual Bani Mela from States of HP, Punjab and Rajasthan besides the adjoin areas of Doda and Bhadrwah.
The MLA said that Dr Jitendra Singh took personnel interest in getting the amount sanctioned for the same and he is indebited to Union Minister for the same.
He said it was also with the efforts and cooperation of local MP that many roads under PMGSY and CRF were sanctioned for Bani constituency besides the work on Basholi-Bani- Bhadarwah road was intensified during last four years of Modi Government at Centre.
