JAMMU, Oct 9: The top officers of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), commonly known as GREF discussed the supplies issues with the senior executives of the Oil Companies during two- day coordination meeting of the Western region which concluded here today.
The meeting was organized by the Jammu based Project Sampark of the BRO and it was attended by the senior management executives from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) besides Chief Engineer Project Sampark Brig U C Mehta, Chief Engineer Project Beacon Brig TPS Rawat and Chief Engineer Project Himank Brig M H Rizvi. Sunil Puri from IOCL, Ashok Sharma from BPCL and A K Bhan from HPCL were also present besides some other officers.
DDG (TA) Headquarters DG Border Roads, Brig D M Raju chaired the meeting today. He inaugurated the annual coordination meet on Monday by lighting traditional lamp. Brig U C Mehta from Project Sampark extended warm welcome to all the invitees / delegates. This meet is basically annual affair in which senior management from Oil Companies and Chief Engineers besides other senior staff from Western Region projects meet to resolve all the outstanding issues regarding smooth working to ensure uninterrupted supplies of oil, bitumen, lubricants and grease etc to various projects of the BRO for speedy completion of road projects.
On first day preliminary discussions on the agenda points were carried out by staff officers from various projects and the management from Oil Companies. The points which needed major policy decision were taken in today’s meeting in presence of DDG. During the meeting the problems being faced in timely delivery of oil, bitumen, and other products to far flung and inaccessible areas were discussed and resolved amicably. Further decision to establish Kerb side pumps at various new locations were agreed to by oil companies.
The BRO is engaged in the construction of roads and bridges at vital strategic importance in the far flung areas of border districts of India and also in the neighbouring countries. In order to carry out these tasks, a large number of vehicles, equipment/ machines and plants etc are used. The requirement of diesel, petrol, lubricants and grease to run these machines is huge. Therefore, the Oil companies are the major support to the BRO and its infrastructure for ensuring connectivity to the remote areas.
