British travel writers to explore Prayagraj, Lucknow and Dudhwa

LUCKNOW, Feb 9: From the grand spectacle of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh to the breathtaking natural beauty of Dudhwa National Park and the world-renowned chikankari embroidery of Lucknow, the state’s diverse attractions are set to gain global recognition.

In a significant move to boost international tourism, the state’s Eco-Tourism Development Board is organising a familiarization (FAM) trip for renowned travel writers from the United Kingdom. These writers will explore Prayagraj, Lucknow and Dudhwa, bringing global attention to Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural, spiritual and natural heritage.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that renowned travel writers from the UK Sorcha Mared Bradley and Alexandra Nicole Lovett will be visiting UP along with Oenone Judith Dale as part of a special familiarisation (FAM) trip.

He said that the British delegation will arrive in Delhi on February 24 and head to Prayagraj on February 25, where they will explore the grand Maha Kumbh and other significant religious and historical sites on February 25 an 26.

On February 27, the team will visit Lucknow, experiencing its rich heritage and witnessing the intricate artistry of Chikankari embroidery. From there, they will proceed to Dudhwa National Park on February 28, a sanctuary known for its dense forests, tall grasslands, and diverse wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants, jackals, hyenas and several species of deer. The park is also home to a significant population of Indian rhinoceroses, making it a major attraction for wildlife enthusiasts.

The British delegation will conclude their journey by returning to Lucknow on March 3, followed by their departure to Delhi and then to London on March 4.

Minister Jaiveer Singh highlighted that UP is rapidly emerging as a top tourist destination in India, especially for domestic travellers. “With its vast cultural and natural wealth, the state has immense potential to attract international tourists as well,” he said.
