JAMMU, Apr 18: The Channi Himmat unit of Brahmin Sabha today demanded from the Jammu and Kashmir Government to declare a gazetted holiday on occasion of Parshuram Jayanti, which falls on April 29th 2025, instead of a restricted holiday.
In this regard a meeting was held under chairmanship of Inder Dev Sharma here today.
During the meeting, a resolution was passed for the declaration of gazetted holiday for Parshuram Jayanti.
The members of Sabha claimed that this move aims to benefit the Brahmin community and inspire younger generations to follow Bhagwan Parshuram’s teachings.
Addressing to the gathering, Inder Dev Sharma requested Omar Government declaring gazetted holiday to give due importance to Parshuram Jayanti.
Currently, the Jammu and Kashmir Government declares restricted holidays, allowing employees to observe specific festivals.
“A gazetted holiday would bring the community together, promoting cultural and spiritual values. By observing Parshuram Jayanti as a gazetted holiday, younger generations may be encouraged to learn about and follow Bhagwan Parshuram’s teachings,” he said.
Sharma further expressed hope and confidence that Jammu and Kashmir Government considers various requests for declaring holidays, taking into account cultural, religious and social significance and declaring a gazetted holiday for Parshuram Jayanti on April 29th 2025 will be huge favour to Brahmin community in J&K.
“The Brahmin community would be highly appreciative if their long-pending demand for declaring Parshuram Jayanti a gazetted holiday is fulfilled. This gesture would serve as a significant morale booster for the community,” he added.
