UDHAMPUR, June 26: Joint Action Committee (JAC) of general category has appealed the people from general category to boycott all the MLAs/ MLCs supporting reservation in promotions.
In meeting of the JAC, unit Udhampur held under the leadership of Dr Viney Gupta at Mahajan Sabha here today for the awareness of general category people on the issue of “ ‘no reservation in promotions’, the speakers strongly condemned the role of some MLAs supporting reservation in promotions.
The JAC delegation received warm response from general category people at Udhampur and assured for joining hands with JAC for greater struggle in future. During the meeting, the public was made aware about the ill effects of the present reservation policy on the downtrodden families. They said the present reservation policy is just nourishing the kids of already economically sound doctors, engineers, bureaucrats, MLAs ministers who are rich enough but benefit is not reaching to the kids of labourers, farmers and other manual workers who feel very difficult in for nourishing their families.
The benefit is reaching those whose kids are reading in premier institutions after paying huge money. But the children of really down trodden families are studying in Govt schools which lack for behind as compared to infra-structure of premier institutions. Most of the people during these meetings were of the opinion that there should be a provision of creamy layer so that the benefit of reservation must reach to the needy persons. Moreover, in general category there are too, many poor families who feel very difficult to earn bread and butter for livelihood. Such families too, be given benefit. The JAC stands for extending reservation on economical basis without any caste, creed and gender, they added.
The members of JAC and heads of various organizations like Brahmin Sabha, Mahajan Sabha and Rajput Sabha also lamented on the criminal silence of general category law makers on such prestigious issue. They are answerable that the benefit of reservation should reach to the really down trodden families or others who are earning crores of rupees. In such a way, these law makers are doing injustice to such weak and privileged families.
Speaking on occasion Dr Vinay Gupta emphasised that reservation in promotion will never be accepted by general category people as it creating a mental agony among the general masses and creating a huge gap between rich and poor. It is killing seniority of general category and their talent. Such practice is never in favour of any State or country for real development. The Govt must honour the verdict of High Court who gave its decision after 11 years by observing all facts from both the sides.
The prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Sharma, Tilak Raj Gupta, Vinod Raina, Romesh Chander, Anoop Khajuria, Mayank Sharma, Rajinder Gupta, Bharat Bhushan and others.
