Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 54 cattle rescued, 7 arrested

JAMMU, Sept 15: Chowki Choura and Ramban Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 54 cattle and arresting seven persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Post Chowki Choura led by Inspector Ankuj under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar, SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma laid a naka and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK03G-1934 and JK22-7761.
During checking, police team rescued 36 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested five persons, who were identified as Mohammad Yousuf, son of Abdul Ahad of Bulbul Nowgam District Anantnag, Faisal Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmed of Watarigam District Anantnag, Touseef Ahmed Sheikh, son of Abdul Rashid Shiekh of Zalangam Tehsil Kokernag District Anantnag, Muneeb Ahmed Shiekh, son of Nisar Ahmed Shiekh of Zalangam Tehsil Kokernag District Anantnag and Barkat Ali, son of Sher Ali, a resident of Garkhal Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu.
Cases under FIR Numbers 233/2021 and 234/2021 under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Ramban led by SHO Inspector Sandeep Charak during checking rescued 18 bovine animals from a truck and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Saif Din of Halla Dundhrath District Ramban and Rafiq, son of Firoz Din of Bati Maitra, District Ramban. The vehicle was carrying the bovine animals without any proper permission with a tampered registration number.
A case under FIR Number 141/2021 under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation is set into motion.
