JAMMU, Aug 17: Nagrota police foiled a bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 7 milch animals.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team headed by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and accompanied by SHO Nagrota Inspector Dileep Singh raised a surprised naka during the intervening night of August 16 and 17 at around 2 am.
During checking of vehicles, police team signaled a Mahindra Bolera Pick-up vehicle bearing temporary registration number JMU-BE-6076 to stop.
On seeing police party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Believing that the vehicle is loaded with bovines, police team chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance.
During checking, police rescued 7 bovine animals from the vehicle, which the driver was smuggling to Valley from Jammu. The driver escaped from the spot taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 172/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at police station Nagrota and investigation started.
