RAJOURI, May 7: In a significant action against illegal bovine smuggling, Thannamandi Police today intercepted a Tata Magic vehicle bearing registration No. JK12-B-7503 transporting two bovine animals without mandatory permission.
The operation was carried out by a police team led by SHO Thannamandi, Inspector Hilal Azhar. The vehicle was stopped and checked during routine patrolling, and upon inspection, it was found to be carrying the animals unlawfully.
The driver, identified as Fayaz Manhas, son of Mohd Ayoub, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, was arrested on the spot. In this connection, an FIR No. 63/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act has been registered at Police Station Thannamandi.
