JAMMU, Dec 1: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Nagrota Sub-Division claimed to have foiled four bovine smuggling bids today by rescuing 37 animals and seizing 4 vehicles.
A police official said that a team of Police Post Manwal foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 12 animals from a Canter (JK05L-9217) near Kishanpur area of Manwal.
According to him, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
He said, a case FIR number 261/2024 under section 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered against unidentified person at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation taken away.
Meanwhile, Police Post Sidhra also foiled three bovine smuggling bids at Naka Tawi Bridge by rescuing 25 animals crammed cruelly inside a Canter (JK02DG-5387) and two Mahindra vehicles (JK02CT-5899 and JK14K-3200).
The drivers of these vehicles also managed to flee before they could be arrested.
Police have registered three FIRs under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Nagrota and started further investigation into the matters.
