JAMMU, Jan 28: Jhajjar Kotli police foiled a bovine smuggling bid by arresting three persons with two vehicles and rescuing 17 bovine animals from their possession.
According to a police official, during the intervening night of January 27 and 28, a truck and a Mahindra vehicle were intercepted at Suketar naka by Jhajjar Kotli police.
He said on search of the vehicles, 13 bovines animals were found loaded in the truck and 4 in Mahindra vehicle. “The bovines were rescued and both the vehicles were seized”, he said.
The official said that driver of the truck namely Mohd Rafiq son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Khanpur (Nagrota), and driver and helper of the Mahindra vehicle, who were identified as Manjoor Ahmed son of Abdul Gani and Aashiq Ali son of Saraj Din, both residents of Gole Gujral, Jammu, were arrested on the spot.
“In this connection, a case FIR No 06/2018 under relevant sections was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation were on”, he added.
