Bovine smuggling bid foiled, one held

JAMMU, Feb 25: Police here in Jhajjar Kotli area today claimed they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid by seizing five animals being transported illegally by one person, who has been arrested.
During routine vehicle checking at Panjal NHW naka point under the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, a Mahindra Bolero load carrier (JK21H-3068) was stopped for checking, a police official said.
On search, he said, five animals were found loaded inside the vehicle in a cruel manner.
They were accordingly released and the driver of the vehicle, identified as Imrad Ali of Gandhari, Ramban, was taken into custody for illegal transportation of the bovines, the police official said.
According to him, the accused has been booked in case FIR number 23/2026 under section 223 BNS and section 11 of the PCA Act registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation taken up.
