Bovine smuggling bid foiled in Samba’s Ghagwal

JAMMU, Dec 26: Police in Samba’s Ghagwal area claimed today they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 15 animals from the clutches of the smugglers.
During routine naka checking at Tapyal Naka on the National Highway, a truck (JK02AB-9535) was intercepted for checking, a police official said.
According to him, the driver of the vehicle instead accelerated the speed to flee from the spot.
His vehicle was, however, chased and intercepted at some distance away from the naka point, he said.
On search of the vehicle, he said, 15 animals crammed inside it in a cruel manner were freed and later shifted to a safer place.
Meanwhile, a case FIR number 181/2024 under sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered against the unidentified driver of the vehicle at Police Station Ghagwal and further investigation taken up.
