Bovine smuggling bid foiled in Samba

SAMBA, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Samba district foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing two animals being transported illegally in a private vehicle.
A police official said acting on a tip off, a police team from Police Post Supwal intercepted an Eco Van (JK02AU-9335) near Basantar Khad in Supwal area.
During checking, he said, the team found two bovines being transported cruelly without valid permission.
The animals were rescued and shifted to a safer location, while the vehicle used for the smuggling was seized, added the police official.
According to him, a case FIR number 260/2025 under sections 223 of the BNS and 11 of PCA Act has been registered against the accused at Police Station Samba, and further investigation is underway.
The rescue operation was made under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
