Bovine smuggling bid foiled

JAMMU, Jan 16: In a swift operation, police personnel from the Manwal post successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt near Nagola.
Acting on intelligence, authorities intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK14H-8740, which was travelling from Jammu towards Udhampur.
Upon being stopped, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene under the cover of darkness, abandoning the vehicle. During the search, six bovines were rescued, and the vehicle was seized on the spot.
A case has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station under FIR Number 09/2025, invoking Sections 223 of the Bovine and Nomadic Safety (BNS) Act and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act.
Further investigation is underway to apprehend the driver and identify others involved in the smuggling racket.
