DODA, Aug 22: Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 12 bovines at Pul Doda area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Doda.
As per sources, during a routine Naka checking at Pul Doda early this morning, a vehicle bearing registration number JK08B-8475 was signaled to stop for inspection. On spotting cops, the driver and one more person in the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled.
Upon checking the vehicle, 12 bovines were found cruelly loaded and were tied with ropes with no provision for food or water.
The bovines were being transported without any valid permission.
Cops immediately rescued the animals and seized the vehicle.
In this regard, an FIR with number 195/2025 has been registered at Police Station Doda under Section 223 of BNS and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation was underway and efforts were being made to trace and apprehend the absconding accused.
