UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: The police seized a truck, loaded with 18 bovine animals moving towards Kashmir in Tikri area of Udhampur today.
Official sources said that a police team from Police Post, Tikri during checking at a Naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Tikri, intercepted a truck/canter bearing registration number UP26T/2340 early hours today.
Upon questioning the driver of the vehicle, identified as Mohd Tariq, son of Ayoub Khan, resident of Jakhani, Udhampur, was found to be transporting 18 bovine animals in a cruel and inhumane manner without any legal permission for transportation to Valley.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 174/2025 u/s 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Rehambal. The accused has been arrested, and the vehicle seized by police. Further investigation is underway.
