Bovine smuggler’s vehicle forfeited

UDHAMPUR, May 6: Police secured the forfeiture of a vehicle, allegedly used in bovine smuggling and earlier attached as part of an investigation.
The Tata Mobile, bearing registration number JK14K-1765 worth approximately Rs 10 lakhs and owned by habitual bovine smuggler Arshad Khan son of Kalu Ram of Rathian, was earlier attached under FIR No. 22/2025 registered at Police Station Chenani under Section 223 of BNS and Section 11 of the PCA Act.
The vehicle has been identified as proceeds of crime and forfeited under Section 107 of the BNSS with due approval of the court. Rejecting the restoration plea filed in the matter, the court directed the District Magistrate Udhampur to supervise the distribution of the vehicle’s value, giving due priority to J&K Bank’s claim while any surplus amount will be forfeited to the Government.
