JAMMU, Dec 24: In a significant breakthrough, Jammu Police have apprehended three individuals accused of bovine smuggling and attempting to incite communal tensions. The arrests pertain to FIR Numbers 312/2024 and 331/2024, registered under Section 299 BNS at Police Station Nagrota.
The accused have been identified as Mukhtyar Ahmed alias Bania, son of Mohd. Sadiq, resident of Kandiwara (Kukernag, Anantnag), Tariq Hussain, son of Gull Mohd Badana, resident of Dera Baba (Reasi) and Arif Hussain, son of Mohd Rafiq Badana, resident of Dera Baba (Reasi).
The trio was arrested along with a truck (registration number JK02AL-2195), allegedly used for carrying out their illicit activities. According to the police, the accused conspired to disrupt communal harmony by disposing of dead cows and calves in areas predominantly inhabited by members of a particular community. This deliberate act was allegedly aimed at outraging religious sentiments and inciting communal tensions.
The arrests were made by a team led by Inspector Parvez Sajad, SHO of Police Station Nagrota, under the supervision of Vinod Kundal, SDPO Nagrota, and overall supervision of Brijesh Sharma, SP Rural Jammu.
This development has brought resolution to two cases registered at Police Station Nagrota. Further investigations are underway, and authorities anticipate additional arrests in connection with the case.
