JAMMU/SRINAGAR, May 13: All Government and private schools in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Samba districts of Jammu division and some border areas in Kashmir division will remain closed tomorrow.

However, the schools in district Udhampur as well as Kathua, including Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar and Billawar zones shall open tomorrow. This has been communicated by the Directorate of School Education, Jammu.
As schools and colleges in non-border districts of Jammu as well as Kashmir were already opened from today, Minister of Education, Sakina Itoo told the Excelsior that decision on re-opening the education institutions in border areas will be taken after assessing the situation.
Authorities in Baramulla today announced that all Government and private schools across the district will reopen from tomorrow, May 14. However, as a precautionary measure, schools in certain areas under Sub-division Uri will remain closed for the day.
Educational institutions in Zone Uri, Jhulla, Chandanwari, and Boniyar will remain shut on May 14, authorities said, adding that the decision has been taken in view of prevailing security and administrative considerations.
In Bandipora district, authorities have ordered the suspension of classwork across all schools in the Gurez zone on May 14, while directing all teaching and non-teaching staff to report to duty as usual.
As per an official communication, the move is aimed at ensuring administrative preparedness, even as student activities remain suspended for the day.
“Classwork in all schools across the Gurez zone shall remain suspended on May 14. However, all staff members posted in Zone Gurez shall report to their duties,” the directive stated.
Meanwhile, the University of Kashmir has postponed all examinations scheduled up to and including May 18.
In a notification issued by the Assistant Controller (Conduct), it was stated: “All the University examinations scheduled to be held up to and including 18th of May 2025 stand postponed.”
“Revised dates for the postponed papers shall be available on the official website of the University,” it added.
