JAMMU, Aug 23: Police Station Kanachak today apprehended a bootlegger and seized a large quantity of illicit liquor from his possession during a naka checking at Ring Road, Channu Chak.
According to a police official, a suspicious person carrying a bag tried to flee on noticing the naka party but was swiftly overpowered. On search, 25 quarters of JK Special Desi Whisky (180 ml each) were recovered.
The accused was identified as Jai Singh, son of Bhag Singh, resident of Paryal, Tehsil Marh, Jammu. He failed to produce any valid permit for the liquor.
In this connection, FIR Number 119/2025 under Section 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kanachak and investigation is in progress.
