DODA, Mar 8: A bootlegger was arrested today with 15 bottles of illicit liquor by Doda police.
“Doda Police arrested one person namely Om Raj son of Salak Ram, resident of Bhata Paryote, tehsil and district Doda, while he was found selling liquor illegally near Ganpat brige Chashma,” a police official said.
He said on seeing the police party, the accused tried to flee from the spot but was nabbed and during checking 15 bottles (375 ml each) were recovered from his posession.
“In this regard, a case FIR number 40/2020 U/S 48(f) has been registered against the accused person who was arrested on the spot,” the official added.
The arrest was made by a police party of police station Doda headed by SHO Inspector Muneer Ahmed khan with the assistance of DSB officials under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarter Manoj Kumar and ASP Headquarter Master Popsy.
Meanwhile, during traffic checking at Khelani, one Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK06/8495 which was coming from Goha Marmat was found carrying 20 passengers against capacity of 12 passengers.
In this regard, a case FIR number 39/2020 U/S 279/336 IPC has been registered against the erring driver namely Mohd Javed son of Ghulam Mustafa of Mangota. The vehicle has been seized and investigation started.
