JAMMU, Apr 21: Keeping a tight vigil over smuggling of liquor in the holy town Katra, police today arrested a bootlegger along with 42 pouches of illicit liquor from Panthal area.
As per police sources, on specific inputs of smuggling of illicit liquor, police party from Katra police station headed by SP Katra Kulbir Singh laid a naka near Panthal and intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number JK02M-6645.
During checking, police recovered 42 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Chain Singh, son of Krishan Dass of Chirala, tehsil and district Reasi.
A case under FIR number 96/14 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Katra police station and investigations started.
