NEW DELHI, Nov 25: A book “Kashmir in the Line of Fire”, written by Major General Ranjan Mahajan, was released here today.
The launch was dedicated to honouring the soldiers who served under the most challenging conditions in the Kashmir Valley.
The event carried special significance as it coincided with the remembrance day of The Rajputana Rifles, the author’s Regiment.
The book was unveiled by the Veer Nari and two sons of Naik Neeraj Kumar Singh, Ashok Chakra (Posthumous), a gesture symbolizing collective remembrance and respect for fallen heroes.
In his book, Maj Gen Mahajan shares powerful, human-centred stories that offer an intimate look into the lives of soldiers who operated in Kashmir.
Rather than focusing solely on operations, the narratives highlight courage, camaraderie, sacrifice and the emotional realities of life in conflict zones.
Drawing from five tenures in Kashmir, the author presents authentic, moving accounts that resonate beyond military audiences.
Commissioned into the 4th Battalion, The Rajputana Rifles in 1987, Maj Gen Mahajan has served for over 35 years across India.
His leadership roles include commanding a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, an Infantry Brigade on the Line of Control and a Division on the Western Borders.
He is an alumnus of DSSC, CDM and NDC and a recipient of the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
The book is a tribute to countless unsung heroes whose stories often remain unheard and underscores universal themes of resilience, leadership and the quiet strength of ordinary individuals rising to extraordinary challenges.
The book is now available on Amazon and FaujiDays.
