NEW DELHI, Feb 14: Renowned historian and author Dr. Jasbir Singh Sarna has released his latest book, ‘Shaheednama Singhan: Eyewitness Accounts of the 1947 Holocaust in Jammu and Kashmir.’
This monumental work, Dr. Sarna’s 66th publication, is the culmination of nearly two decades of meticulous research and compilation, shedding light on a critical yet often overlooked chapter of history.
The book was formally introduced to the academic and literary community by S.P Singh, former Director of the National Museum, New Delhi and Chairman of Kasturba Gandhi Museum.
In his remarks, Singh commended Dr. Sarna’s unwavering commitment to historical preservation, noting that his extensive corpus of work underscores the need for religion to be a unifying force rather than a source of division.
He lauded Dr. Sarna’s dedication to upholding Sikh ethos of ‘Manas Ki Jaat Sab Ek Pehchanbo’, recognizing the fundamental unity of humanity.
Dr. Dharam Singh of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, acknowledged Dr. Sarna’s substantial contributions to medieval history, particularly in critically examining historical narratives and amplifying lesser-known voices.
The book is expected to be an essential addition to historical research on partition-era events in J&K.
