JAMMU, June 23: The body of a man, who had jumped into Chenab River on June 19 after escaping from the preventive custody of Akhnoor police, was found today from the river near Nomander in Akhnoor.
“The deceased identified as Raj Kumar alias Kaka (35), son of Bari Ram, a resident of Bangti Daskal (Akhnoor) was detained under preventive custody at Akhnoor police station. In the morning of June 19, he escaped from the custody on the pretext of attending nature’s call and jumped into Chenab River”, a police spokesman said.
He said that since that day, police was searching for his body and today his body was found from Chenab River near Nomander in Akhnoor. “The body has been shifted to mortuary room of Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor for post mortem”, he added.
