JAMMU, May 20: A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) camp was organised at Miran Sahib area, an outskirts of Jammu city.
During the camp, More than 150 patients were screened by Dr Amit Vaid, general practitioner and laser and cosmetic surgeon.
“This is a simple and reliable method for early detection of Osteoporosis and Osteopenia, so that patients can understand risk factors for the disorder and shall also be guided for multifaceted regimen of diet, lifestyle habits, and osteoporosis medications in order to prevent further bone loss and fractures,” said Dr Amit Vaid while observing patients during the camp.
Dr Vaid said poor intake of calcium in diet leads to fragile and weaker bones and particularly women are more prone to development of osteoporosis, due to insufficient calcium content. He advised people to increase consumption of milk, curd apart from cereals for more calcium intake to ensure better health of bones.
Dr Amit Vaid said that it was a health awareness camp which has served the purpose very successfully. He assured the people of the area that such camps would regularly be organised to serve the community.
The people of Miran Sahib area appreciated the efforts of Dr Amit Vaid and hoped that this endeavour will continue in near future also.
